Heidi, The Game for GBA
Start of the game, after a 3 second countdown.
Well there is not much I can say for this one, Yea, I played it! I know that my affliction would be laughing right now but still, I played it and finished it in just over an hour.
Start to finish, I was bored. This game offers very little outside of a straight line, Yea sure, there is some levels that have multiple routes to the exit and I think in some levels there is even multiple exits in the same level but still, there is a really disconnected story, no achievements to earn, no rewards, no fighting, no (it felt like while i was playing it) purpose to it.
The game starts out as the picture here, with you standing with your Grandfather and your cousin/friend (I don't know, it doesn't specify). Your Grandad goes on to say that you are up very early and asks if you want to see the Willow today? Your friend Pete, asks you to come with him (even though he remains stationary) to show you around the wilderness (insert token guide to play 'character' here). after a little bit you encounter a goat named Silky and Pete asks that you come visit all three of them every day. Heidi (you) carry on into the wilderness to have an adventure through the mountains. You are tried and tested on your jumping abilities and your patience (sometimes there is a sneaky fox on the edge of a platform that you have to whistle at to distract to be able to get by, otherwise he will hurt you and you will fall back off where your trying to go) the only other thing you can do aside from walk, run and jump is whistle! This would be considered your 'Weapon', however it is not so straight forward as a gun. You whistle to distract animals that are aggressive in nature so that you may sneak by or (for no reward at all except a pointless point system) so you may jump on them and dispose of them. After a little while I gave up killing animals as I grew very impatient and running by is a lot easier and quicker. The whistle has a cool down of a few seconds, so you can catch your breath (its hard work whistling). After passing up and down, inside and out of the mountainside you reach the end of the first day. During all of this you are occasionally gifted with some dialogue from Heidi herself about how much she loves the mountainside and the country air is just sooooo great! Moving on.

Entering the city for the first time!
Cruising around at night for a while you return to the day and then venture into the city (in between all of this you have to climb the mountainside via jumping up cliffs running across plains and avoiding animals, yea, not much). After arriving in the city Heidi goes on to explain that the city air is bad, its crowded and that her relatives (I think, if i recall correctly) are going to be disappointed by her returning to the mountainside but its for the better as its very different and difficult to adjust to the city life for Heidi. After dodging dodgy children, shady characters, running across rooftops (because the street is just too boring for lil Heidi who is used to climbing mountains), climbing up and down buildings and trespassing in various locations she heads back to the mountainside.
Back to the mountainside! YAY!
During your adventures in the wild you get to ride a goat, a snow sled and collect various flowers (100 of which result in another life). There are also butterflies to collect (that don't seem to do anything at all, maybe points, I didn't check) and a few hard to find or hard to reach 1up's floating about. After wandering around the mountainside for a bit longer you finish another level and BAM! It's the end of the game!
The End! Wait, What? But I didn't DO anything!
What a gripping adventure that was... Even more so than most other games I have played... O_o Just a few notes here, I was wandering aimlessly after something named the Willow, I had to visit Silky every day.... What ever happend to the Willow? What Willow? Was it a Talking tree like in Pocahontas? Or was it some old female dwarf respectfully nickname Willow because she resembled an old Willow tree in her old creased face?
Hold up, what about Silky too? What happened to her?

Ok, so this is actually something to do, FINALLY!
Visit Silky as often as I like? That might be possible if I were able to back track, which I'm not able to. And for what purpose would I come back and talk to you guys? So you can send me on another wild goose chase after something else that doesn't exist? Like Willow? You jerks, if you want me gone, you don't have to pretend to play Hide and go seek with me, you can just TELL me and I will pack my pretty red dresses and get out of your hair!!!
YAY! Confirmation of my First Objective! NOT!
But seriously, after a dialogue like this one would expect that Silky, or the family in the mountains are to be a new objective in the game! I mean seriously, the main character repeats how much she will do said objective for clarification for the player! But no, she is just full of hot air too! "Yea I will come visit you ALLLLL the time! Pft! Yea right!"
Besides who cares about poor old Grandad!? He sends you out to find something named Willow and Bam, that's all his air time???
I guess that its better than him talking more to describe more things that you can do that you actually can't do!
All up in all, if you are a dedicated gamer, this is an easy title under your belt, definitely NOT worth bragging rights though!
However, IF you have a daughter between the ages of 5 and 12 (maybe, I'm out of touch with how quick little girls grow up these days) then this would be a good title to get her, if there is nothing else in the gaming store, or some alien takes away all the other video games, or your little girl is allergic to pokemon for example.
I would rate this game on the "Little Girly Scale" a 3 out of 5!
Here, have more pictures.... I don't want them, I'm Done with them!

Oh, by the way, the graphic at the top has nothing to do with the Gameboy game, its a graphic from a Heidi cartoon series to which I take no credit for... Obviously! But WHO is that other girl in the picture? Not sure... Not sticking round with Heidi to find out either! Buh Bye!
